With endless Puerto Rico packages available, offering everything from exclusive stays at the Villa Montana Puerto Rico to your dream Puerto Rico destination wedding, finding the best experiences and attractions for your visit can seem a little overwhelming.

Short of booking everything on an ad hoc basis as and when they have availability, perhaps the best way of planning your vacation is with an itinerary — with this article designed to help you identify what to do on each day of a five day trip.

Without further ado, here is our guide to give days in Puerto Rico.

Day One

Day one is all about acclimatising to the environment and spending the day getting over your travel — with a trip to the beach. Spend the day at Isabela Beach in Puerto Rico and consider visiting Bio Bay in the evening if you want to really see the natural beauty of Puerto Rico at its best, from the comfort of a kayak.

Day Two

Exploring Old San Juan is a great way to spend the second day of your trip, as it allows you to spend day one settling in before really immersing yourself in some culture and the history of Puerto Rico. San Juan is well known for great food and even better coffee, so arrive hungry and be sure to schedule in plenty of coffee breaks.

As well as exploring on your own, you can book onto walking and/or foodie tours of Puerto Rico, allowing you to see more of the city without wasting time getting lost.

Day Three

After a day in San Juan, it’s time to head back out into nature — with day three best spent in the El Yunque National Forest, which is the only tropical rainforest in the entire United States. This fact alone makes it well worth a visit, with tourists enjoying the incredible natural waterslides and waterfalls, as well as the intense green surroundings and adventurous experiences and settings.

Day Four

Get out on the water near the town of Fajardo, with beach lounging just as popular as the catamaran rides and other boat tours that visitors can enjoy as they please. Some of the best tours and experiences from Fajardo are organised and run by locals and include lunch on and around the deserted islands before jumping back onto the boat to explore the quiet stretches of ocean further out from the mainland of Puerto Rico.

Day Five

Day five is all about getting back to basics and enjoying whatever it was that drew you out to Puerto Rico in the first place. This is the day to indulge in the finest food and drinks, to wander the beaches and explore the streets, and to spend any leftover vacation funds on souvenirs and other things to take home with you.

Puerto Rico is a treasure-trove of experiences just waiting to be unlocked. Whether you visit for five days or five weeks, you will never run out of things to see, do, and try for the first time.
